Hotels, department stores, airlines, large stores and restaurants accept major credit cards. Cash is generally preferred elsewhere.
Currency
The New Taiwan Dollar (TWD) is the national currency. Paper currency comes in $2,000, $1,000, $500, $200, and $100 denominations, while coins come in $50, $10, $5, and $1 denominations.
The currency exchange rate in January 2023 is around USD1 to TWD31. Foreign currencies can be exchanged at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, government-designated banks and hotels.
