- What will the semiconductor industry do after two-dimensional scaling of the silicon transistor crosses the nanometer threshold, from 14 nm, 10 nm, 7 nm, 5 nm, 3 nm, 2 nm, 1 nm, to sizes below a nanometer? Will these advanced logic technologies continue to provide the energy efficiency required of future computing systems? Will new applications and computation workloads demand new device technologies and their integration into future systems? These are some of the most pressing questions facing the semiconductor industry today.
- Do we still care what node the technology is? In this talk, I will give an overview of IC technology and the roadmap going forward.
- Dr. H.-S. Philip Wong currently serves as Vice President of Corporate Research responsible for exploring new technologies for TSMC. Prior to joining TSMC, Dr. Wong is Professor of Electrical Engineering and holds the Willard R. and Inez Kerr Bell Professorship in the School of Engineering at Stanford University.
- Dr. Wong and his students have won best paper awards at premier conferences such as the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) and Symposia on VLSI. He served as General Chair of the International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM) and is currently the Chair of the IEEE Executive Committee of the Symposia on VLSI Technology and Circuits.
